Men's basketball falls to Husson

FARMINGTON -- Husson College handed the University of Maine at Farmington its second North Atlantic Conference loss as the Eagles topped the Beavers 79-74 in men's basketball action this evening at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Husson improved to 8-7 (4-1 in the NAC) and is scheduled to host the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Friday, while Farmington slipped to 8-8 (4-2) with conference foe Elms on Friday.

Scott Kissinger (Islip Terrace, NY) tallied 17 of his game-high 26 points in the second half to lead the Eagles, while Sheraud Lee (Bridgeport, CT) chipped in 20 points, including a 7-for-7 performance from the charity stripe to close out the contest. Husson earned the win despite being held to 33.3 percent (21 of 63), while the Beavers drained 50 percent of their shots (24 of 48). The Eagles' windfall was at the foul line where they were 29 of 42 with Farmington hitting 18 of 25 attempts.

Matt St. John (Wayne, ME) led Farmington with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Andrew Dean (Gorham, ME) popped in 12 points in the loss, while Isaac Hutchinson (Oakland, ME) supplied 10 points. The Beavers were hindered by 18 turnovers to eight for Husson.

After clinging to a 30-29 edge at intermission, Husson built a 55-43 advantage on the strength of a pair of trifectas by Kissinger with 10:44 remaining in the contest. The Beavers battled back and went on a 15-4 run down the stretch with a St. John trey with 3:13 left in the game to give Farmington a 70-68 lead.

The Beavers led 72-70 with 2:05 left in the game, but Husson outscored Farmington 9-2 in the waning moments to take the win with Lee and Kissinger each hitting a 3-pointer during the run to give the Eagles the 79-74 victory.
