Men's basketball places second at Colby Invitational
FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team fell to Colby College 83-77 in the championship game of the Colby Invitational on Sunday in Dearborn Gymnasium.
The Beavers dropped to 4-2 and are scheduled to visit the University of New England on Saturday. The Mules remained unbeaten at 5-0.
Andrew Dean (Gorham, ME) led the Beavers with 20 points, including a 4-for-4 performance from beyond the arc. Dean nailed a 3-pointer with 5:47 left in the second half to tie the game at 70, but Colby rallied with Adam Choice and Mac Simpson each scoring four points down the stretch to seal the victory.
Matt St. John (Wayne, ME) helped Farmington with 17 points follow by Sean Fry (Jay, ME) with 14 and Eric Lelansky (Portland, ME) with 10. Josh Tanguay (Gorham, ME) pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss. St. John and Fry each earned Colby Invitational All-Tournament Team honors.
Choice led Colby with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while tournament MVP Artie Cutrone threw in 19 points and Simpson added 18.
