Sean Fry (Jay, ME) scored 24 points – the fourth time in the last five games he has scored 20 or more points – to lead the UMF men’s basketball team to a 65-62 win at Mt. Pat Howell’s (Bristol, ME) lay-up at the end of the first overtime popped out, allowing the Husson men’s basketball team to remain undefeated in conference play with a 65-63, extra session victory tonight at Dearborn Gymnasium.  The win improves the Braves’ record to 18-5 overall and 13-0 in conference play, while UMF falls to 9-14, 6-6.  Sean Fry (Jay, ME) led the Beavers with a career-high 29 points, including a three-pointer in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime, while Tyler Muzzy led Husson with 20.

UMF led for the majority of the opening half, holding a six point, 25-19 lead with 2:00 remaining before Husson rattled off a 7-0 run to end the half with a 26-25 edge.   The Eagles pushed their lead to eight, 37-29, with 16:57 to play on a three-pointer from Scott Kissinger, but UMF refused to fold, pulling to within one, 45-44, on a Howell lay-up with just over nine minutes to go and the contest remained close until the final seconds of regulation, with neither team leading by more than three the rest of the way.  UMF trailed by three, 58-55, following a Martin Cleveland lay-up with :30 to play, but Fry knocked down a three from the top of the key with :09 left to force overtime.

In the extra session, Husson struck first, but UMF took a 61-60 lead on a Fry basket at the 3:41 mark.  A free throw from Jaosn Harvey and a lay-up from Brock Bradford on successive possessions gave Husson a 64-61 lead.  Although UMF drew within one on a basket from Isaac Hutchinson (Oakland, ME) on the next possession, Husson hit three free throws over the final minute to preserve the victory.

Hutchinson added 13 for the Beavers, while Fry led both teams with 11 boards for his third double-double of the season and second in as many games.  Kissinger and Harvey added 14 apiece for Husson.   Box Score
