Field hockey falls in overtime

WATERVILLE -- Despite being outshot 32-6, the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team forced overtime against Colby on Wednesday before falling 1-0 to the Mules at Bill Alfond Field.

Amy Campbell (North Andover, MA) scored with 10:38 left in overtime after slamming home a shot off a nice centering pass from Meryl Poulin (Cape Elizabeth, ME). The goal was Campbell's fifth of the season and her fourth in the past three games.

The Mules (2-5) dominated the game statistically with the aforementioned shot advantage and a 16-0 margin in penalty corners.

Kaeleigh Barker (Chichester, NH) played well in goal for the Beavers (4-3) with 22 saves.

Colby goalie Jamie Enos (South Hamilton, MA) earned her first shutout of the season with four stops.

UMF is scheduled to host North Atlantic Conference foe Elms College at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
