Barker, Chambers earn regional honors

FARMINGTON -- University of Maine at Farmington junior goalkeeper Kaeleigh Barker (Chichester, NH) and senior forward Kristin Chambers (Gorham, ME) were named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-New England East First Team as announced by the NFHCA on Monday. An All-North Atlantic Conference First Team selection, Barker recorded a 1.13 goals-against average and a .870 save percentage with seven shutouts in 19 games this season (1243:29 minutes). Barker was also an All-NAC First Team choice as a sophomore last season.

A co-captain this season, Chambers -- selected to the All-NAC Second Team -- the team with 13 goals (seven game-winning) and 30 points. Chambers was an All-NAC Honorable Mention honoree last season.

The Beavers closed their season at 13-6 on Nov. 7 with a 5-1 loss to ninth-ranked Middlebury in the first round on the NCAA Division III Tournament. Farmington captured its second straight NAC title and their fourth in five seasons.

The Longstreth/NFHCA All-American selections are scheduled to be announced on Nov. 19.
