Baseball players receive NAC honors

FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington baseball team had three players named to the All-North Atlantic Conference teams announced by the NAC today.

Junior catcher Tyler Hanson (Sanford, ME) was selected for the All-NAC Second Team, while senior shortstop Corey Provencher (Rumford, ME) and sophomore centerfielder Phineas Peake (Penobscot, ME) were NAC Honorable Mention choices.

Thomas College centerfielder Michael Chamard was named the NAC Player of the Year, while Castleton State College's Dan Conley was honored as the NAC Rookie of the Year. Castleton's Ted Shipley was named the NAC Coach of the Year.

NAC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches. Statistics in all games played were used in the voting process.

Hanson, one of the squad's two captains, batted .337 with five doubles, a home run and 15 RBI.

Provencher, an All-NAC Second Team choice in 2007, hit .329 with five doubles, a triple, a home run, 13 RBI and 11 stolen bases.

Peake averaged .298 with four doubles. He swiped 13 bases.

The Beavers finished their season at 5-22.
